LAUREN MCDONNELL

Occupational Therapist

Flying Start Children's Therapy

Lauren is a paediatric occupational therapist with over 15 years experience across a range of settings including early childhood intervention, special developmental schools, private practice and social services. She has gone on to completed extensive postgraduate training and professional development, both here in Australia and in the UK, in the areas of neurodevelopmental treatment of children with cerebral palsy, sensory processing, assistive technology prescription, sleep and settling, handwriting without tears and the “fun with food” program. Lauren is experienced at running group therapy as well as parent education groups and staff professional development sessions. 

Lauren's passion and expertise is with families of young babies and children, premature infants, attachment and relationships and working with babies and children with neurodevelopmental concerns such as autism, developmental delay and cerebral palsy. Lauren’s approach to therapy is “seeing the play in the everyday” and embedding skills practice into family life.


As a mother of two young children Lauren understands the daily juggle and aims to work in partnership with families to provide best practice, holistic therapy. On weekends you can find Lauren running the local trails, making and eating pizza or camping with her family.
