Sounds Squad

Facilitated by a Speech Pathologist with additional training, this program will be based on the highly accredited Sounds-Write program, aiming to improve literacy outcomes for children with speech and language difficulties, dyslexia, and other learning disabilities.

An expertly structured synthetic phonics program based on the science of reading. This multisensory, code-oriented, comprehensive approach to literacy is a successful approach that enables children to practice the skills of blending and segmenting, as well as reading and writing words and sentences.

The program places a strong emphasis on developing phonemic awareness, the ability to hear, identify, and manipulate individual sounds in words, which is a critical skill for successful reading and spelling.

What’s involved:

  • A pre-program assessment with a Speech Pathologist will be included prior to the group commencing, to determine the best place for them to start in the program and discuss program goals.

  • 8 fun and engaging weekly session for the child to enjoy learning and making friends.

  • All resources, handouts and worksheets involved with the activities.
